A 17-year-old hairdressing student died after having an operation to
remove a giant hairball from her stomach.
Rachel Haigh, who had a habit of chewing her own hair, underwent surgery
after doctors found a clump the size and shape of a rugby ball in her
abdomen, an inquest heard.
But while recovering from the operation, at Hastings' Conquest Hospital,
she suffered internal bleeding and died on New Year's Day.
East Sussex coroner Alan Craze recorded a verdict of accidental death.
